New England Vacation Part 1

We have been back since Friday, but you know, always a million things to do when you come back and on top of everything, we had a little incident with the refrigerator, all the filet mignon was unthawed when we got home – Mr. D open the refrigerator and there it was the big mess .
We thought the refrigerator gave its last breath, but after careful thinking we came to the conclusion that maybe we did not closed the fridge door properly because the darn thing was working well the next day - anyway we saved the filet mignon- Mr. D loves his filet mignon - so today I made a big beef a l’orange – hopefully it will be good – yes! It is ashamed to use filet mignon for beef a l’orange! The meat is a lot better on the BBQ!
Enough about the filet mignon! - I want to tell you all that we had a wonderful vacation down in New England. First destination North Conway - we took the scenic routes as usual to get there – We crossed at Derby line and then rode on the scenic roads going through the White Mountain stopping at Mount Washington, really, really gorgeous views – I was impressed -
North Conway is a nice little town – we stayed at the Colonial Motel – Excellent service, very clean, quiet and priced right – We had tapas and red wine for supper – saw the sights and located the thrift shops and consignment shops for the next day, do you believe there were 3 thrift shops and one consignment store in that little town, this girl was happy – I did not find much in the thrift shops but the consignment store called My sister’s closet had a lot of nice stuff – I bought a pair of shoes and a skirt – I did a lot better in Portland!
Everybody is so nice down in the US - i only have kind words for all - everybody is so friendly!
The king cat, my cat, chou chou was fine – he was spoiled by Eve – He was happy extremely happy to see his mistress – this cat purrs and dribbles when he is happy- pretty disgusting, but he is my baby!

Next post will be about Portland our second destination!

Here are a few pics of our vacation - They are on the way to North Conway and in North Conway

These pics are Mr. D favourites- Mr. D liked this outfit, noticed that is black and white, very feminine and very, very, very simple. The pics were taken in the garden which is in full bloom – it is a place of tranquility, peace, serenity. It needs lots of care and Mr. D simply does an amazing job.
I have been today again( remember I am thrift junkie) to Renaissance which it is one of my favourite place to thrift – I found 2 vintage pieces and they are amazing it will posted later on when I come back from Portland.
I located St-Vincent de Paul in Portland! Hope we will have time, want to go , want to go!!
We are leaving tomorrow morning for Portland, Maine, I hope the weather will hold for our little get away. Tonight will reserve rooms halfway and in Portland hope will find decent not too expensive accommodations since it is the Construction Holidays here in Quebec and during that period many people travel to the US, borders being so close.
I am in the process of choosing what to wear for the trip - it is driving me a bit crazy but it is fun!

Mr D’s daughter will look after chou chou - that is the cat’s name, I am so worried - this cat is my baby, I love him to death - but Eve will take good care of my cat.
– Some of the pics were treated with Camera + with the Ipod – they look dreamy and the garden looks amazing! Others pics are straight from my Pentax.
Oh yes! forgot to tell you guys I am an Ipod Freak as well !

What I Wore -

Top – Fringues et Cie (YWCA) Montreal ( I volunteer every Friday this summer so guess what…I get home with a big bag !
Skirt- H&M
Sandals – Ardennes

Vacation has attitude

A week is gone already 2 more vacation week to go and Mr D and I are planning a little get away to Portland Maine in the TT ( TT being the convertible) - Mr D is planning the itinerary - we will take the scenic way, i hate highways when on holidays, i prefer to take the long way and have plenty of scenery- I love to see villages, churches, general stores, farms, cows, horses and of course the smell yes that smell ladies and gentlemen do you know what i am talking about? the smell yes! the smell of the country life!
Will have to check if Portland has thrift shops or charity shops - The US has excellent second shops and the prices are right - Last time we were in the US Mr D spotted a country thrift shop on the scenic route when driving to Montpellier Vermont - i found fantastic stuff like the skirt you will see in this post. Originally the skirt was a maxi but i had it shortened, i think it looks a lot better.
I finished my translation of the documentary, my name will be mentionned as the translator in the cast and credits - I am so proud i worked very hard on it.
I will include in this post pics i took with my ipod while power walking in the neighborhood - i am forever taking pictures!
I have so many pictures of my neighborhood - i should have an exhibit soon i think:)
What i wore in this post -
Top - Lady Dutch - thrifted Renaissance - Montreal
Skirt - Thrifted in Vermont
Sandals- Clarks - thrifted

Vacation Posting # 1

Yes it is true i am officially on vacation - Every day for 3 weeks will be Saturday - This is what my dear Mr D said and every day when he wakes up he says << what day are we>> ( sorry i have a new laptop and i do not know how to get the question mark yet) anyway- and Mr D replies of course this is Saturday! So there it is - no more Monday to Friday and the dreadful Sunday that reminds you that you have to get back to work the next day!
I have been waking up early - you know menopause you can not sleep anymore in the mornings! ok so i have been awakening early and exploring how the other people live while i am at work...I leave the house around 8 am to power walk - i take my ipod - listen to music and see what goes on - so neat to see the old lady walking her dogs - so neat to just do whatever you feel like - so nice to smile at a pretty cat...no schedule - the life ladies - the life!
So my outfit will simple, summery, happy and of course a bit of color - in this post i will include a few shots of the neighborhood - i took them while power walking this weekend and this week.
What i wore -
Dress thrifted Renaissance Montreal
Belt - thrifted Renaissance Montreal
Shoes- Converse on Sale at Neon - Ste-Catherine West - Montreal
Enjoy - Ariane

Urban Behavior

Again these pics were taken in the back alley behind my house - did i tell you all how much i love my neighborhood? It is so full of colors and smells!

I live in a very urban environment but it seems that every neighborhood in Montreal is a village - Contrary to what some people might think, Montreal is a very friendly - hopen minded city - i know all my neighbors- i talk to all my neighbors - We help each other and bonus there is a wonderful bio corner shop that i will do a feature on because the owner is such a doll and every time i go there we strike a conversation on what is in as far as health food.

I am a health nut by the way - well becoming - i think your health is the greatest treasure and it should be taken care of -

These pics really reflect my urban environment -

The whole outfit is thrifted except for the hat which was bought at Ardenne everything else is either from Renaissance or Village des Valeurs in Montreal -

Enjoy - Ariane

IPOD Nation 9

It is time again for IPOD Nation - Pics i have taken in Montreal on the street, in the subway or bus - I think i have good ones this week - Last week of work - My vacation starts on Friday night! 3 weeks of pure bliss, much needed vacations indeed ! But as usual i will be busy doing whatever i like doing which is photography, painting, reading, cycling, yoga and of course first and foremost enjoying my time with Mr D-

Started volunteering last Friday at the YWCA 's second end shop- Fringues et Cie - I was dead at the end of the evening - I am in front of a PC all day - - Volunteering playing the sales assistant is so different for me and at the same time so amusing but so exhausting!

Got to go - Enjoy the pics - Ariane
